At Check Please Commodities we pride ourselves on exhibiting honesty and transparency within the Agriculture industry. We are an information hub first and foremost, and we encourage our subscribers to use our price discovery service to inform them of their decisions to help them meet their business goals. Hailing from a mixed farming background in cropping and sheep in Serpentine, North West Victoria Macey has experienced first hand the highs and lows of extreme weather and market volatility. This motivated Macey’s value for honesty and transparency within the industry and encouraged her to pursue a Bachelor of Agriculture at The University of Melbourne majoring in Economics where she developed a special interest in marketing and managing volatility.

She is excited to exhibit her passion everyday using the Check Please model which aims to help farmers negotiate on their own terms by providing information first. Her role mainly involves price discovery and trade execution and getting things done is her motto. She is always up for a chat and loves learning about everyone’s farm business goals so she can help you achieve the best result.
David Paton
Founder & Managing Director
David is well-versed in commodity risk management in the Agriculture industry with over 10 years experience as a consultant, whilst also managing his own farm with his family. Over the years, David has experienced the highs and lows of markets and seen the influence volatility has on all levels, from small business, to family farms and corporates. Working in the industry throughout the deregulation of the wheat market, David’s understanding of the supply chain was bolstered alongside his passion for price transparency and commodity risk management.

As a result, the notion of Check Please was born. A pricing information hub that is developed to inform its users of their fair markets, powered by the simplest language to understand in agriculture - numbers. Pricing talks, he will often say, and he is stoked with how much we’ve already been able to help farmers understand their position with our accurate prices. As the Managing Director, David works closely with the team, developing software, improving our brand and helping clients to get the best result using the Check Please model.
Will McCulloch
Client Services
Growing up on the Bellarine Peninsula, Will has always been around farming and agriculture. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Business at RMIT University majoring in Economics and Finance and is keenly interested in pursuing a career in Agribusiness. Mostly, Will values the skills that he has learnt in spending time on family and friends properties and has seen at Check Please that we can make a tangible difference within the industry. Will loves the people in Ag and as the Director of Client Services, is most often who you will get answering the phones and is best at explaining what Check Please is all about. Will is always up for chat and works closely with the team to ensure all our clients are well looked after.
Sophia Ritchie
Software & Development Lead
Sophia is an experienced product engineer and consultant. She has experience leading teams to develop software products, especially in the fast-paced environment of startups, as well as 5+ years of experience as a full-stack developer. She has significant experience in fintech for both B2C and B2B applications.
Angus Courtney
Client Services
Angus is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Agriculture with a major in Economics at the University of Melbourne. His passion for agriculture began while growing up on a family farm in Tallangatta, North East Victoria. As he became more involved in the family farm, he gained insight into how volatile commodity prices affect farming. 

Angus is particularly interested in the Check Please model, which helps farmers navigate the market and find the best prices using innovative technology. He values accurate information in buying and selling and is dedicated to helping farmers manage risks and adapt to fluctuating market conditions based on his own experiences. With a strong blend of theory and practical knowledge, Angus aims to make a positive impact for our clients at Check Please.
Sam Stone
Client Services
Sam is currently studying a Bachelor in Agriculture with a major in Economics, inspired by his long standing interest in markets and volatility. Growing up on a fifth-generation cereal and sheep farm west of Bendigo, agriculture has played a central role in his life and upbringing. Sam’s background has guided him toward a career in commodity risk management, where he can blend his passions for agriculture and economics. 

Sam appreciates the innovative software used by Check Please, which opens up price opportunities for farmers and enhances their negotiating power, helping them tackle shrinking profit margins. He values integrity and transparency in the agricultural industry, believing these principles are essential for providing the best possible options for farmers. At Check Please, Sam is committed to ensuring that his service is aligned with these values, enabling farmers to make informed decisions and improve their financial outcomes.
